The importance of your job - HT inner voice

Jasmeet Singh

I was four when my mom's farther passed away and did not get a chance to “download and install" some intensive values directly from him. But I have always heard from my mom that he was a man of his words and carried a spiritual air around him.

His principles and moral values are quit visible in our family. Even God couldn’t overlook such love and has showered every one of us with happiness every one of us with happiness and success. Our entire family is proud of the way he worked.

I wondered at times when I see my family talking about him and saying it with immense pleasure that he was just a "carpenter”. No matter the heights and success they have achieved now, yet the voice and heart never goes down in communicating that he was just a carpenter.

I would like to share a small story which is in reference to President Abraham Lincoln. On the very first day as he entered to deliver his inaugural address, just in the middle, one man stood up. He was a rich aristocrat.

He said. ” Mr. Lincoln, you should not forget that your farther used to make shoes for my family”. And the whole Senate laughed; they thought they had made a fool of Abraham Lincoln.

Lincoln looked at the man and said, “Sir I know that my farther used to make shoes in your house for your family, and there will be many others here... Because the way he made shoes; nobody else can. He was a creator. His shoes were not just shoes; he poured his whole soul in it. I want to ask you, have you any complaint? Because I know how to make shoes myself; if you have any complaint, I can make another pair of shoes."

The whole Senate was struck dumb. It does not matter what you do, what matters is how do it-of our own accord, with your own vision, with your own love. Then whatever you touch becomes gold.
